It's easy to get caught up in Black Friday shopping and Cyber Monday deals. But, don't forget: 'tis the season for giving.
Have you heard of Giving Tuesday, the holiday dedicated to charity? If you're looking for a last-minute way to get involved and make a big impact this year, Naturepedic can help – we support a wide range of deserving non-profits that could use your support. Here are just few to get you started!
What Is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement encouraging people to do good. Falling on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is a day to take a step back during an annual time of mass consumerism and think about what we can give instead.
There are so many ways to give. You can donate money, time or even your voice to causes you care about. Everybody has the power to contribute in their own unique way to building a better world. Giving Tuesday is a great starting point for those seeking to make a change today, tomorrow and every day.
3 Causes We Care About That You Might, Too
At Naturepedic, we believe that a safer, healthier mattress design leads to a safer and healthier world – that’s what we’re working toward. For us, this starts with our commitment to the organic movement, but it extends to much more. If you’re looking for a way to get involved this Giving Tuesday, here are three big causes we’re passionate about.
1. Kids Health
Our children – they’re the most important thing in the world to us! Because Naturepedic was founded by parents and grandparents, we’re passionate about raising awareness and driving funding for issues surrounding kids’ health – and these organizations are, too!
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is on a mission to change the lives of children with cancer through funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer.
ALSF and its supporters – including Naturepedic – are working toward a future without childhood cancer “One Cup at a Time,” and believe that no idea or fundraiser is too big or too small. If you want to learn more, take a look at this blog post discussing ALSF’s important work.
Child Cancer Prevention Initiative
The Childhood Cancer Prevention Initiative seeks to reduce the use of cancer-associated toxic chemicals in spaces where children live, learn and play.
Made up of members of the Cancer Free Economy Network, the Childhood Cancer Prevention Initiative publishes the annual Childhood Cancer: Cross-Sector Strategies for Prevention report. This report examines the impacts of toxic chemicals on children’s health, and it helps its readers to understand the health, science, business and policy needs for reducing hazardous chemicals in an effort to prevent childhood cancer.
Children’s Environmental Health Network
The Children’s Environmental Health Network (CEHN) is on a mission to protect developing children from environmental health hazards and promote a healthier environment. CEHN has a lot in common with us here at Naturepedic – and probably with you, too! We all spend a lot of time thinking about how we can support an organic holistic lifestyle, while also protecting the environment.
In October, we celebrated Child’s Environmental Health Day with CEHN to celebrate children’s environmental health successes and raise the visibility of issues and challenges in the field. CEHN even wrote a guest blog for us, “How to Prioritize Children’s Environmental Health Today and Every Day.” Check it out!
2. Eliminating Toxic Chemicals
The uncovering of toxic chemicals in consumer products has become an increasingly worrisome trend. At Naturepedic, we’re on a mission to eliminate toxic chemicals from your sleep environment … and here are some organizations working toward that end and beyond!
Only Organic
At Naturepedic, we believe that education is the key to making the right decisions for your health. We’re proud to support Only Organic, whose aim is to help people to cultivate a better understanding of what being organic really means and the environmental and health benefits choosing organic provides.

Breast Cancer Prevention Partners
Breast Cancer Prevention Partners (BCPP) works to eliminate toxic chemicals and other environmental exposures that lead to breast cancer. Their important work includes helping communities impacted by environmental exposures linked to breast cancer, translating science into education and action, pressing businesses to make products safer and helping to pass health-protective laws.
Naturepedic was proud to partner with BCPP in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October – check out this guest blog post from our friends at BCPP, “BCPP’s Top Tips to Reduce Your Risk of Breast Cancer.”
The Organic Center
Naturepedic supports The Organic Center, which provides facts on organic and empowers the public to make healthy choices for your family and the planet – and you should, too!
When you donate to The Organic Center, you help them to continue uncovering the health and nutritional benefits of organic food in an effort to provide you with tips on making healthy decisions in your daily life. Your donation supports turning their research into the development of sustainable farming methods and solutions to help organic farmers succeed.
3. People and Planet
At Naturepedic, we believe our planet and the people living upon it are all interconnected. Whether it be through supporting families in need, eliminating toxic chemicals or educating the public on ethical consumerism, these organizations are all working toward a better future for people and planet.
Women’s Voices for the Earth
Naturepedic is proud to support Women’s Voices for the Earth (WVE), an organization that believes that everyone deserves to live in a healthy and safe environment. Working for our communities, families and the environment, WVE envisions a world free of the impacts of toxic chemicals, be they social, economical or environmental.
WVE focuses on industries that most heavily market and sell to women, such as cleaning products, beauty products, intimate care products and other consumer products including – you guessed it – mattresses and bedding. Take a look at this guest blog post WVE contributed called “How Do Cleaning Products Connect to Climate Change?”
Humble Design
Humble Design is on a mission to change lives and communities by custom designing and fully furnishing home interiors for individuals, families and veterans emerging from homelessness.
Naturepedic recently partnered with Humble Design Cleveland to donate 45 new mattresses to families in need this holiday season. And beyond accepting monetary and wish list donations, Humble Design also accepts gently used furniture and household goods. This sustainable approach is a great way for families who are tight on cash to give their support to other people in need.
Green America
For four decades, Green America has been educating and mobilizing consumers, investors and businesses – using the power of the economy – to build a society grounded in social justice and environmental sustainability.
In June, we partnered with Green America for World Environment Day. They even wrote a blog post for us, “World Environment Day: Let’s All Take Action for People and the Planet,” to help us learn more about how to help the planet we all love.
