Naturepedic sleep products are an investment in the health and quality of your sleep and that of your family. Below, we’ve compiled instructions for how to clean a mattress, pillow, crib mattress, and mattress pad. Read through the guidelines and make your Naturepedic certified organic mattress last as long as possible with proper care.
baby mattresses
To clean your waterproof crib mattress, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth. You can use a mild cleanser on the soiled surface or some hydrogen peroxide or alcohol to sanitize. All breathable models have removable machine washable covers, and the waterproof surface underneath can be cleaned per the previous waterproof instructions.
Crib mattresses with quilted surfaces are not waterproof and are spot clean only. For these models, we recommend using an organic waterproof protector pad to prevent fluids from seeping into the mattress.
changing table pads
To clean your changing table pad, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth. You can use a mild cleanser on the soiled surface or some hydrogen peroxide or alcohol to sanitize.
kids mattresses
The 2-in-1 organic kids mattress offers a smooth waterproof side and a quilted non-waterproof side. For the waterproof side, simply wipe down the waterproof surface with a damp cloth using a mild cleanser, hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol for sanitation. Be cautious to avoid getting liquids along the binding and sides, as moisture can seep into the mattress. The quilted side of the 2-in-1 organic kids mattress as well as the Verse organic kids mattress are spot clean only. We recommend using an organic waterproof protector pad to keep the mattress clean and sanitary.
In the unfortunate event of an accident without a waterproof pad, our best advice is to pour some hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol on the soiled area and allow to soak in. This will help sanitize the area beneath the surface. Then, gentrly scrub the surface of the affected area with a damp soapy cloth. Finally, allow to fully dry before covering with bedding (if possible, place directly in the sun to dry).
Please note that all Naturepedic kids mattresses (Organic 2-in-1 and Verse) are intended for use with a foundation, and many low-to-the-ground options exist if that is a concern. Keeping your child’s mattress directly on the floor could lead to hygienic issues, compromise your flooring or carpets, and void your mattress warranty.
adult mattresses & toppers
The quilted surfaces on our adult mattresses are spot clean only. We recommend using an organic waterproof protector pad to prevent fluids from seeping into the mattress (topper care).

Finally, allow to fully dry before covering with bedding (if possible, place directly in the sun to dry). If you purchased an EOS Series organic mattress, you can always purchase a new encasement to replace the soiled one.
Please note that all Naturepedic adult mattresses (Chorus, Serenade, EOS and Halcyon models) are intended for use with a foundation. Keeping your mattress directly on the floor could lead to hygienic issues, compromise your flooring or carpets, and void your mattress warranty.
For optimal comfort with our EOS mattresses, Naturepedic recommends flipping and/or rotating the coil and latex layers twice a year. As a reminder, when rotating or flipping the coils, it’s important to ensure that the side with the brown strip remains oriented along the outer perimeter of the bed. This ensures proper edge support and avoids feeling the firmer edge coils in the middle of the bed.
sheets & protector pads
Naturepedic’s organic sheets and protector pads will be a bit larger than normal when you first remove them from their packaging. This allows for shrinkage of the organic fibers. Machine-wash these products and dry on temperatures up to medium/hot. It may take 2-3 wash/dry cycles before the protector pads fully shrink down to size.
pillows
This pillow is spot-clean only. If concerned about accidents or to shield against bed bugs, lice or dust-mites, we recommend bundling this pillow with our organic pillow protector that is machine-washable and dryable.
In the unfortunate event of an accident without the pillow protector, our best advice is to machine wash the pillow on cold, remove promptly and dry on low heat. We suggest removing the pillow from the dryer periodically through the drying cycle to fluff it before finishing the cycle. Be sure to dry the pillow thoroughly.

The outer casing of this pillow is fully washable. Just remove the shredded latex insert and machine wash cold and dry on medium. Be sure that the quilted layer is fully dry before re-assembling the pillow. The insert is spot clean only; however, it is protected by the outer washable layer from exposure to most liquids and soiling.
